About PowerGridSource

PowerGridSource is a free set of electrical calculators: power conversions (watts, amps, kW, kVA, power factor), wire and cable sizing by voltage drop, and system sizing for breakers, service load, generators, transformers and fault current. Each page does one job and works straight away: there is no account and nothing to install.

How it works

• Everything runs in your browser. What you type or choose stays on your device; nothing is uploaded.
• Results are computed, not typed in. The worked examples on each page are produced by the same code the calculator runs, and the code is tested against reference values from textbook formulas and hand calculations.
• Every result shows its working. Each calculator lists the formula and the steps with your numbers, and the result can be printed or saved as a PDF with the inputs and the date.
• Estimates, not certified calculations. Code tables such as conductor ampacity are not reproduced: check them in the applicable code, and have critical designs verified.
• Third-party material used on the site is listed on the credits page.

The site is free to use. We may show advertising in future to pay for hosting and development. If we do, ads will be labelled “Advertisement”, will never cover a tool, and are described in the privacy policy.
